We had major pee issues when we brought Taz home in 2009. Three years of peeing on sofas, beds, clothes, etc. We got rid of the sofa he peed on the most and also bought a new bed. What I found has worked is plastic carper runners spikey side up on the sofa and bed in the room that is open to him. With the two other bedrooms, the doors are always closed if we are not in the room. We've had over 1 1/2 years of no peeing. I know how frustrating it is. Good luck and hope these suggestions work. Also Taz is not allowed to sit on any furniture or bed even if we're in the room. If he's on furniture I insist he lays down.

Also check what he sees when he looks out the windows. He may be trying to protect you from outside intruders.

I have waterproof matress protectors on the matress and another protectors waterproof over the sheets and quilt this seems to catch the wee.
I do also put inside my sofa cushions, the dry night bed mat for children. They cover the cushions well.
I use a product called unrine off. Please don't use bleach cats love it.
I was told placing tin foil on the places you don't want the cat to go on. It worked the don't like the feel of it crunching or the sound.

Thanks everyone. took chester to the vet again, and he did not find any bladder infection. We broke down and bought a new mattress, with a waterpoof pad....AND keeping the door shut, just in case :) I have been keeping the boxes extra extra clean and he uses them fine. we have one on each floor. Marilyn will be my next step if we have another accident.

I'm at my end. My F4 female seems to think any container she finds is fair game for urination. Laundry baskets (empty or with clothes in), bathtubs, wooden artifacts, even a big blanket fallen to the floor! etc. we've made sure to have a litter box on every floor of the house, and my house isn't big (1400 sq ft). My F5 male seems fine. It's just her. She is 15 weeks old. This behaviour, as far as we can tell, is new. We've had her since she was 8 weeks, and she had our male (2 months older) to continue to learn from, and she follows him everywhere! Anyhow, this behaviour of hers is as far as we know, about 3-4 weeks now. She was fine for first few weeks.
I'm paranoid now when I see her alone sitting.

Janice, How new is "new" in terms of her behavior? What are you cleaning with? Have you tried Kitten Attract litter with her?

Is it possible she is one of those kittens that unfortunately is going into heat at a very young age? It's not impossible and very very confusing for the kitten :-(

She's still very young, I know you've had her for nearly half of her life but that still isn't very long! Try making sure there aren't those "containers" available to urinate in, put something over them to cover them like a lid, put away etc... and then try to "remind" her about the litterbox by picking up and placing in it every hour. Maybe keep her in one room when you are not there to supervise so that she has easy access to a litterbox and is not forgetting where to find it..

She seems to have stopped. We added yet another litter box on the upper level. Afterwards she still used the tub once or twice, but has (as far as I know) stopped now. Had to block off a lot, and change where we kept things.....
I still get nervous when the laundry is out or something, but I guess we will just have to deal with it if it happens again.

And no, she isn't spayed. Our vet prefers six month time frame. And she is so little, so I'm okay with that.
