You have to make sure you soak the carpet all the way through and if there's a pad under it that needs soaking also. Whatever is under the carpet and pad may also have been wet with urine.
FYI, I'm I tried an experiment last year in my office. Took up the carpet and put down a stick down vinyl floor that looks like wood. Bought it at Home Depot and it was inexpensive. It's awesome. I like it so much that I am going to replace the wood laminate floors in the whole house with a top of the line luxury vinyl plank. Perhaps the stick down vinyl would be a good solution for you if you have to get rid of the carpet.
Someone came to measure for the floors yesterday and Atticus was stuck to him like white on rice. I was surprised because the brat usually takes a minimum of 15 minutes to warm up to a stranger but this guy must of reeked of good cat energy. They had a love fest going on and the guy was here was much longer than it took to measure the floors. LOL. The magic of a savannah cat.
