He is really a bean pole. Quite slim. If he fills out in the same ratio as Kilifi, he will be a heavy weight..

I agree with Paige, weight is really not good indicator of Savannah size, and 8-9lb at six months is probably pretty average for a Savannah boy. On the other hand, the fact that he already has longer legs than Kiki sounds like he will probably be a better proportioned Savannah than Kiki is.

You just can't tell. Jax's weight just before Xmas was 10 lbs 7 ozs @ just short of 7 months. His frame is slightly longer and taller than the big 22 lb Maine coon. Like Regie, ,,,, he is still very skinny. It doesn't show so much in his pics but in person he looks so slim. He is very healthy and eats like a horse. What amazes me the most is the growth spurts! His weight rises rather steadily but his length and hight grow very erratically. Seems like in just 4 or 5 days he has grown noticeably taller and then a week or so about the same size. One thing I know for sure is that he prides himself by being a BIG pain in the ass! Then the next minute he's Mr innocent love bug . Drives the wife crazy !!! LOL!

The old worry wart me, is always wondering if my furkids are getting enough and the right food. Since they have started on the Darwin's frozen raw, kilifi has gained weight. She is 10 lbs 1 oz, and Regie is growing like a weed. 8 lbs 5 oz.. Azidi is filling out very nicely. Have not been able to convince her to stand on the scale long enough to weigh her, but I will estimate 8 ish lbs. Whatever, she is looking very good.
SO I suppose I should NOT be concerned about them eating. They seem to be doing fine.

But Regie is a little fickle on his eating. One day he will scarf it up the next her will just pick at it. I suppose it is normal, because he is NOT losing weight. Just being a boy, I guess.

Cary, what I've read and seen first hand is that the first 1-3 months on raw food, cats will typically lose fat and gain lean muscle mass. Appetite usually goes up during that time as the body catches up with all the good nutrition and rids itself of residual effects of dry/canned food.

Appetite fluctuations are normal. With the exception of my Juba, who I believe carries swine genes, my guys eat heavy for a day or a meal and then light for a day or two or for the next meal. Sometimes they eat all the food each meal and sometimes they leave some.
