So sorry to hear about Tessa! We lost two cats over the last year, so I know how heart wrenching it is.

What kind of phone do you have? The Tapatalk app is available for iPhones and Androids. On the iPhone, and, I assume, the Android, the app will give you a choice of three resolutions when uploading photos so it's not too large.

While there are other ways to reduce the size of pictures, this is the easiest solution for this situation.
