SS Drinkwell 360 is what I use at home and love it. I started off with the basic Drinkwell and graduated to the stainless, best decision I made.

I have the catit fountain from hagen. You can see it here http://usa.hagen.com/Cat/Feeding/Fountains/50050 and I believe on amazon and at petsmart.. I bought it because its is relatively cheap (about 30 dollars, which is cheap compared to many other fountains, though it is plastic..) and has a carbon filter. I also thought the dome design was interesting. I researched a lot of fountains in the lower price range and this one was one of the best in terms of life-time of the pump. Kovu loves it, and it's pretty simple to keep clean, I just wash it once a week with dishsoap.

Lucky folk that don't have troublemaker kitties (yet) in their households... neither the Drinkwell 360 nor the CatIt survived long here. I persisted with the 360 as I had the stainless and tried to see if I could get them to leave it alone. I think some of them make noises that just BEG to be investigated more closely...

I got this one as well. It barely makes any noise. I have to be right beside it to even get a hint of hearing anything. I top it off every 2 days (2 cats) and it's super easy to clean a re-assemble. I got it on Amazon, since it was less than 1/2 the cost of buying it from a store like Petsmart.

The Drinkwell 360 in my HO IS THE BETTER OF ALL THAT i HAVE TRIED. I have the stainless steel ones and they work very well;>) BTW...I never let them in the room when I clean it....they would take it apart if they realize it has removable parts;>) LOL

I got the black Friday 50% off basic drinkwell (2 cats) I top it off everyday, and also clean it once a month.

I'm lucky :knock on wood: my boys only drink, or slap the stream no major issues.
I like to clean mine twice a week and I do change the filter monthly. Those little mouths can cause bacteria buildup in the vessel and I feel would not feel comfortable cleaning once a month;>)

I didn't have any of them in the room when I assemble them either for that reason...but it hasn't stopped mine from working it out themselves.

I get by once a week for cleaning, water out here is mineral laden so I have to filter water prior to pouring into the fountain. Anything that goes into it (toys or something else) calls for a cleaning which happens once or twice a month outside of the routine. It's true, Amazon has killer deals on Drinkwell's compared to supporting the store chains. Being in Santa Barbara, I do a lot of online ordering not just as a result of my IT profession simply because it's hard to find things without a significant drive. I have to top the fountain up every 36-48 hours. Like clockwork, the boys are going to the fountain twice, once after a meal (of wet food mind you!) and another after an hour or two. They pee a lot, but nothing better than seeing nice clear urine and not dark yellow stains in the litter-box.
