Biting

I'm assuming Tracy is a cat? If you were moving in your sleep (bad dream or otherwise) under the covers that may have been the instigator for him going after your arm. Cats in general seem to feel compelled to attack anything that moves under the covers as though it was prey.
He's played with moving feet before by prancing on them but this was a hard bite...

BahaaaaHAAAAAAAAA. This brings me great joy. Please post pics.

Those pictures won't be finding their way here any time soon. The funny part is it was one of those times where I had to let him know he crossed the line. Scooped him up, locked him in his room and for the rest of the early morning hours he tore up his wheel, chased the ball on his turbo wheel, repeatedly dove through his tunnel and dropped a huge stinky deuce that was bad enough I had to tend to it. smh

It could be that he was hungry. Having some food issues as one kind is causing asthma and another had caused occassional vomit. Also I probably scared him moving ...

It might be that you did move suddenly and enough to startle him...but if he's also having issues with asthma and vomiting I wonder if he's in some discomfort hence more reactive?

Given you mention you have had him for three years and this is the first time, I would probably try to just continue as before and see if it ever happens again? It might have been one of those "perfect storm" type of things and destined not to repeat. I hope so!

Was it an actual hard bite? Dante has seriously tried to hurt me before for no reason when I brought him outside. It was a scary moment and luckily has only happened once. I'm not sure why either. He is a Ragdoll for the record, not a Savannah.

I've never had Loki do this. Loki has never even broke out the claws on me. He is a sweet boy. He does gnaw my fingers from time to time, but this is a very different thing from what happened with Dante. There has been a few disturbing days after he has been to the vet, but never violent. I feel like he is protesting.

Toes get nibbled sometimes and it's weird. He is obsessed with nibbling/rubbing against smelly feet/shoes. Mr Dante loves the shoe smell as well.

Popp - let the pictures surface, you know we'll find them eventually :)

I thought we have it under control but it got turn into worse. I think Seth bites when he is hungry, but I wouldn’t bet on that. He is not gentle envy more, he really uses a lots of strength to bite and now he is using claws to hold hand he bite. We no more can take hand out easily and he leaves marks. We do not play with our hands, we use hand for petting only. Don’t know what to do. He also don’t care if his claws are out or not during other times and I have now few nasty scratches. Not that he scratching us on purpose but when attacking feet or running around he just catches us in his fury of playing.

when he bites you are you just walking up to him and petting him then he tries to bite you ? sometimes my cat will try to bite and usually it means he does not want to be pet

i can't play with my cat using my hands i don't think many owners here can these cats like to play rough

but if he is biting you hard and you want him to know its not right either ignore him and if that doesn't work (which is most likely because they don't give up easy) i would scruff him and put him in a carrier or a room for a few minutes

He comes to a bed to be petted, he purrs but bites anyway. It gets more and more painful. It doesn’t look like he is doing it out of aggression or unhappiness, but I cannot allow it. He is 22 weeks old and weights over 7 pounds, it will be more painful when he gets bigger.

I agree that scruffing him as soon as he bites and putting him in a carrier for a few minutes may teach him that this is inappropriate behavior. Also, yelping (like a kitten would) also teaches him that he is being too aggressive. If the biting continues, you might want to seek advice from a cat behavioralist such as Marilyn Krieger www.thecatcoach.com

I believe he thinks it’s just a play, but it hurts now. He usually understands when we tell him no, but recently decided to ignore it ;-)
