Tigerkytti
Savannah Child
Hi,
I have an F3 Savannah male who is almost 1 year and 5 months, who I noticed has been having mucus like blood streaks in his fecal matter. I wasn't sure which cat of my two it was but finally figured it out last week.
So I took him to the vet, along with a sample and they did a routine check on him and a test for parasites on his stool. Apparently nothing, plus I am currently using Revolution on him for fleas ans its supposed to be deworming as well. But the vet gave us a low dose of antibiotics for 5 days for him. I thought it was helping, but just checked his stool today and it still is the same as before.
The stool is solid like it would be normally, and doesn't seem filled with blood but rather streaked and mucusy in appearance. As far as I can tell, he doesn't have any problems defecating. He's drinking as normal, a little less for eating but I think it's related to the heat. He seems to eat less the hotter it is, more the cooler it is. His activity levels seem to be normal, a little monster tearing about the house and tormenting my 13 year old cat with wanting to play. Playful, cuddly, etc. He was whining a bit more than typical after he managed to sneak outside one day, when I was holding/handling him- not sure if that was just him being more vocal cuz of his adventure. Since the antibiotics he doesn't whine at me unless too many cuddles for his highness. He's bright eyed and alert.
Can anyone give suggestions as to what may be causing the blood in his stool? I will of course take him to the vet when I can, but the first visit was already borrowed money I can't pay back. So if I have to again, I'd like to try to go the cheapest route possible to make sure it's figured out. And unfortunately, even the highly praised local vet does not have my confidence any longer (long stort about him misdiagnosing my other cat with cancer that he doesn't have).
Any help would be dearly appreciated, as I love Aether to bits and wouldn't know what to do if something happens to him.
