Breeder opinion

Yes, although we have core team members that are pet owners not breeders as well, the majority of our team are breeders and we do feel that this is our responsibility to our breed. What we find also is that most of our breeder group ALSO feels that responsibility and will step up to foster temporarily if we need them.

Although our workload has steadily grown, you still have to consider that we have over 13,000 people waiting for a rescued Savannah and we don't have cats for them all. We still have a breed that is highly sought after and that makes it easier. We don't deal with the usual rescue issues, ours is more having to deal with a deluge of offers for a cat. I'm about to list an F1 for adoption and am scared about how much work that will entail!

I do think it bizarre that your breeder was keeping your boy to see if he was fertile but then sold him at 10 months of age? Most fertile generations of male Savannahs may not have proved at that young age! I guess she changed her mind, and maybe that shows she knew more than she disclosed to you...

Brigitte,
Yes, I quite agree. I know you are inundated, with offers. I don't know were you find the time. Good luck! I have watched the Beeson surrenders, and the work the group put into these cats. It is heartwarming...parden the perhaps corny term..only word to describe it.

With regards to my male cat, she said he showed no interest. Ironically enough, as soon as he was out of quarantine in our home he repeatedly attempted to mount our spayed shelter female. We had to keep them separated. I didn't tell the breeder, since by this time I had already begun to form a negative opinion, and thought she deserved to have sold him. I also realized as much as I loved him, and he is beautiful, there was no way he should reproduce. I believe she may have been mistaken, but again discovering his issues...teeth malformed etc. it is definitely for the best.
We already had an appointment for his neuter, so it was not something that drug on...thankfully.

Who knows with these people.
I do believe, they thought they knew more than they actually did, by far. She claimed to not be aware, he was missing a tooth, for me that says it all. I look at this journey, as a learning experience.

Hope all goes well, with the F1.

Leslie
