Yes, although we have core team members that are pet owners not breeders as well, the majority of our team are breeders and we do feel that this is our responsibility to our breed. What we find also is that most of our breeder group ALSO feels that responsibility and will step up to foster temporarily if we need them.
Although our workload has steadily grown, you still have to consider that we have over 13,000 people waiting for a rescued Savannah and we don't have cats for them all. We still have a breed that is highly sought after and that makes it easier. We don't deal with the usual rescue issues, ours is more having to deal with a deluge of offers for a cat. I'm about to list an F1 for adoption and am scared about how much work that will entail!
I do think it bizarre that your breeder was keeping your boy to see if he was fertile but then sold him at 10 months of age? Most fertile generations of male Savannahs may not have proved at that young age! I guess she changed her mind, and maybe that shows she knew more than she disclosed to you...
