Breeder-Owner Communication Lines

I saw that Aaron's Savannah's was a registered breeder with TICA and on their website they have an article about what a reputable breeder is- what a joke. He was the exact opposite. I wanted to report him in some way but it is frustrating to know what to do or how to go about it. He absolutely sold me a very sick kitten and has gotten away with it. However, if I can spread the word to save any one else what I went through I will. I feel sorry for all of the kittens he has to this day.

I'm so sorry your kitten was sick :( I hope he is well now?

Rest assured...many people are on to Aaron and his ways....this was posted here last week:

Thanks for sharing Pam!! I went to that thread and posted about my experience. If I can prevent even one person from purchasing from him or help to shut him down-it will all be worth it. :)

I am very sorry for your bad experience @qcamrse but I am very glad that the kitten has now recovered. This just goes to show you/everyone that some people can and do say whatever they want on their websites or in person to make the sale, which is why I've always said not to believe the hype but ask for references, and really check them out. Places like this forum and the Savannah Yahoo groups are great places to find reputable breeders.

Better advice to give anyone looking for a Savannah than I did. Way too trusting and naive with my purchase. I think I was so excited about getting my kitten I let some of my own better rules go out the door-never again!!

Cats can do no wrong <3
And please, even if you don't want to be an owner who chats with your breeder every single day- don't be taken aback by breeders who are more than wiling to educate, explain and pass on information. Nine times out of ten, it is the owner who sets the pace of the relationship between owner/breeder. For example- I have some owners who check in every 6 months on their own and I have some who email me monthly and I have some I talk to on a daily basis. I respect your right to care for and grow with my kittens with or without me there at your side. But you better believe- if you need me, I AM THERE.

And this is why I really want a kitten from a breeder on this forum! This community has made me a much more educated buyer, and more excited for when I get my first Savannah baby!

A relationship with a breeder is very important for many reasons. I had that relationship with my breeder for my bengal and even now after he passed away. My breeder for my savannah is a huge dissapointment on many levels.
