Bringing a puppy into the mix

After we put to rest my sweet Min Pin girl Sage I told my husband no more new dogs. But at times I do think about getting another dog. None of our cats are dog like, even the Savannah, so I miss the companionship a dog gave me. Of course it could just me still missing my little girl.

I know for a fact I would never bring home a puppy again. I'm getting too old for potty training. lol Plus after fostering for so many years I can appreciate an adult dog much more then a puppy. I think if you really like that breed maybe a retired show dog would be a good fit. One that has been around cats. Probably harder to find then a puppy but still worth the wait.

I feel the same way about the potty training. And then there's obedience training. I would want to get the dog certified as a therapy dog because I think it's important for the pooch to have a "job" and I love the ability of animals to bring joy and comfort to humans who need it. Ideally I would like an older dog who has been raised with cats and don't mind waiting for one. I'm putting out feelers to see what the possibilities are. And I have a consultation scheduled next Wed. with my animal communicator to see if we can get the cats to weigh in on the matter.
