Broken toe help

I have had to quarantine our little man for 8 weeks with a broken hip. Not fun but you can do it. The big thing is going to be keeping him floor bound and deciding whether you're going to crate them or put them in a separate room. We opted for the crate so it was easier to interact with him and didn't need to worry about him jumping on window sills.

There's a long thread on the subject, Chongo broken hip or the like, and probably more than I can remember about the challenges.

Thank you everyon for your quick responses as I dealt with this ... Things seem a bit more settled and we are settled in in for a long 3-4 ? I'll keep you posted as we transgress ... Here is a recent pic of Julius and his new "summer home " You can vaguely see his paw but it is certainly swollen :(

Thanks John thats smart ... What did you use ?

I used a couple out of use smaller litter boxes from when he was a kitten. Just turned them upside-down and elevated the bottom tray. He was totally crazed from the meds he was on and I was in absolute panic when he first came home from the surgery center. They sent me off with a long list of stuff he wasn't supposed to do and he had them all checked off inside of 5 minutes.

I still wish I would have followed through and ordered up a custom crate as there were a bunch of things that I had to improvise. The worst of it was being quarantined the litter box became his play pen and 3x a day I had some pretty big messes to clean up.

I'll also say that sleeping on the floor with him each night was the very best thing I could have done for him. Not only was he bored out of his mind but he was pretty lonely. Also I believe it was Brigitte who gave me the tip of hanging some small pieces of yarn from the top of his crate. Not so long that he could get caught up in them and small enough that they wouldn't cause an issue if ingested. Later I swapped them with some leather strands. Definitely worked great to keep him amused.
