Cat in the dryer

I really can't put it into words with how horrible it was, aristo was like my second child, I loved him so much and it was so heart breaking :( I just hope that others can maybe learn that bad things can and do happen

I'm so sorry for you who have had dryer tragedys. I'm such a worry wort and at the same time am so forgetful sometimes I can see how things happen. Tojo turned 6 months today and just this week he has started to jump on counters and climb into and onto crazy places. I must remember to take my vitamins...

Today my sister inlaw was doing laundry. As she proceeded to load the dryer our 16 week old Loki jumped in. She started the dryer and heard a thump and looked in the dryer and saw Loki running on the clothes with a look like get me out of here im done already. We opened the door and he just walked out Needless to say he wasnt phased by it at all just came out purring. It scared the rest of us pretty good.

Knowing how curious SV's are, I have a safety routine when doing laundry:

1. prep the washer or dryer.
2. check for Shango inside the washer or dryer.
3. close the door, but don't yet proceed to turn them on.
4. make one last run around positively locating Shango, whether that be in the living room, cat tree, etc, knowing he is not in the washer or dryer.

This is uber paranoid, but I won't ever accidentally washer or dryer him this way (which would be deadly). It can't be repeated enough I'm afraid... I do all of this as Shango, probably like a lot of SV's, is super good at door darting and the likes (you think you're good and he sneaks on by). ...dj

I know someone that actually placed a comforter in there dryer....unaware that their Sphynx had jumped in. This was a gas dryer and the cat was discovered when the cycle was done. Needless to say...this was not a pretty sight. I say...never leave the dryer door open. Always open the door, put the clothes in, make sure the cats are all accounted for and then cut the dryer on. I am paranoid about the dryer and cats. They do not mix;>(

I always warn owners of the dryer dangers. I do personally know someone that had a Sphynx climb in the dryer and was not discovered until it was too late. I make it a point of not opening the dryer door until I am ready to put the clothes in and then close it as soon as the clothes are taken out. Mine are not allowed to ever climb in even for a second.
I know someone with a Sphynx who had the same experience- it was her poor teenage daughter who it happened to :( I just cannot imagine... Cannot.

I also am paranoid about this. I do like Shelby does. You just can't be to careful.

I'm also paranoid about this and mine aren't even in the garage. Mine are banned from the garage unless I'm working in there all day long for purposes other than laundry.

Mine are more obsessed about jumping from the roof of the car to the beam and attic being that it's only 6ft high up from the roof of the car to the main beam. They have an easy time getting up but less confidence getting DOWN and I don't have a ladder currently! Even then, I will cover both cars (or the car I am not working on) so paw prints and scratches don't accumulate. I.e...
