I got a bit more details yesterday. Boy does it suck to be away while my baby is sick. When they did the ultrasound they found that her liver was enlarged again. The internal medicine specialists thinks that it could be some kind of infection (was not able to write down the name when Steve told me) that may take a couple of months to fight off.

Rafiki slept until 10 am yesterday. Steve said that when she did get up, she was very sweet and playful. She still does not want to eat and had only eaten an ounce yesterday along with a bit of kitty crack. He tried feeding her ground raw and cooked and she was snubbing everything. Last night she also snubbed her pill pockets which he unfortunately tried to feed her after the food instead of before. He was going to try again about an hour after we talked. I desperately want to be home with my baby and I am stuck out here until Thursday.

I'm sorry Rafiki is still having issues... It is so hard to be away when they are sick... I hope Steve is able to get her pills down her... Can be bring her to vet to do it? Can she stay at vet to make sure she gets meds /food while you are gone, if Steve can't get her to do either?

Im so sorry that Rafiki is having trouble eating again. I was reading a site about elevated bilirubin levels and it does mention that it could be caused from her getting into chemicals toxic to the liver. It sounded like the vet thought her tongue may have become smooth from exposure to a chemical. This might not explain why you had issues with her eating in the past but the two events might be unrelated. I'm no vet, I just saw something in common with the two symptoms. http://www.2ndchance.info/dxme-Bilirubin.htm

Update....negative for toxoplasmosis. still witing on the liver biopsy. Steve is now feeding her 1 oz at a time and that seems to be working better - she is a grazer and this way he does not have to worry about Jammu eating it. She ate 6 oz this way yesterday. She is happily gobbling up the pill pockets so the taking the meds is not an issue. She is playful and alert.

Ugh, sorry to hear about the ongoing issues with Rafiki, but glad to hear she is eating with encouragement and taking her medications. I hope you get the biopsy results back quickly and it is good news!
