Cats at odds

Ya know, I was just thinking the same thing and when online and was reading that a cat will stalk a sick cat and become violent toward the sick cat! When I was gone today the girls let Chloe out and Pergie I guess got up as soon as he seen her and jumped on her, <sigh> she has a bigger maker by her leg now. Pergie just started stalking her about 5-6mos ago, but just got violent in the last two weeks. They have never been buds, but he has never done this before. I so will call vet tomorrow.

I just remember I had septic people here 2-3weeks ago, but they were put away and couldn't see anything and thats the only major thing done here.
Hubby has mentioned this type of thing too when the cats go after Cole...

They are all spayed/neutered! Chloe showed up at our home when she was 3-4ms old and weighted 1 1/2 pounds. I think she was dumped! I later found out that she had been living in the neighbors garaged for 3-4weeks before she came to my door. It took a lot of work just to get Chloe to trust and her and my hubby are buds. I got Pergie when he was 7weeks old and Chloe was 5ms. So they have pretty much grown up together, but have never been close. I don't have a newcomer, but I was going to purchase a savannah! I unfortunately and unreluctantly decided not to because I was afraid of the situation might escalating. When Chloe was a kitten we had a Tom feral, but he was trapped and I think put down :(!
I got keeba 3yrs ago, so Pergie could have a bud and they are very close always together. When I brought Keeba in the house it was a good thing(not the first week tho. lol) But he really takes to both of them. Keeba is a lot more energy and can wear pergie out and that when I have to take over and play with him. this is why I wanted another and because I love the breed.
Keeba is the most well behave here!!! :)

Well, if there are no toms around, and no environmental changes, it doesn't sound like it's redirected aggression or fear based aggression. I thought it might be one of those since you mentioned the attacks were recent. Even though they haven't always been buds, this is new behavior, so there must have been some kind of trigger. Cats are all about territory, so maybe Pergie feels the need to act out based on some new threat he perceives.

I agree with others that Marilyn is a good resource, I'm glad you've contacted her. Good Luck!

I separate them for a bit to let them cool off. It's a real pain and it upsets me for Cole's sake. He's very mellow and laidback- he doesn't ever start it. It seems kinda breedist too- the F1s and Saber, the F7, are the ones who pick on him :(

I'm sorry- I don't have a great answer!

It makes me sad for Chloe, even though she is the queen she really just keeps to herself! if she doesn't want to be bothered she will hiss at them and they walk away! till this started. When the attacks started Poor Keeba runs full speed ahead under our bed and will stay there! I think one time he was under there for a couple hours I tried talking him out, but he was not having any part of it. He is not confrontational at all, which is a good thing! He defiantly all about being happy and getting a long.

I do keep them separated now tho. and told the girl no more out together if I'm not home!

So, I'm curious to know if this escalated when you added another kitty/cat to your home, Trish? This is my concern..or did it just stay between the ones that were having a problem?

Thanks, Trish! I've been watching them, reading Marilyn and Pams books and started Light training with Pergie. I ordered the new stick clicker and going to work with Chloe on that. I think they just dont care for each other which is fine and I can keep them apart and I think it will be just fine. Think Positive :)

So, I figures out what the trigger is! Urggggg!!!! It is another cat outside!

I have a sun room set up for them with tunnels, toys and sleeping for the cats. The sun room is on the second floor so I have stairs going up to the sun room sliding door. The last couple weeks I've watch Chloe go from room to room windows like she protecting the house and watching. Most of the time the fights happen it is in the sun room or just out side it in the dinning area.... Well, last night I'm laying in bed and the stairs to the sun room are just outside my window, I hear what I think is a HUGE cat fight! I knew Pergie was put away in Kyllie bedroom and Keeba would run for his life before he engaged in a fight. I ran up stairs and Kyllie was holding Chloe puffed up like I've never seen her before and teeth showing. Kyllie said the neighbors cat is outside the sliding door! WHAT?!!! I opened the door and chased the cat all the way home. I have since put a board up so the cats cant see the stairs or a cat cant come up to the window. So, I'm guessing this is not the first time and Pergie and Chloe both must of been in the sun room the first time the cat came up and this is how it started the fighting between them.

I think I'm going to get the motion sprinkler and put them up around the yard. any other suggestion what be helpful!
