Ahhh, relieved to hear you aren't facing FIP. I bet it feels good to have your blood pressure go back to normal. Keeping fingers crossed that Cody is back to full health soon.

I'm very happy to report so far so good. All of his internal organs looked perfectly healthy. Both doctors apologized that they didn't have a definitive answer at this time but I was thinking if they did then it may be wet fip. They are going to treat this as a bacterial infection for now and give a course of antibiotics and test the liver values in a month. We're not completely out of the woods but my wife's and my freak out meter can go down a bit. Thank you to everybody who offered well wishes and information. Hopefully Cody will test fine in a month and get to meet his step brother Cooper.

Although it's not as specific as one would like (no diagnosis) it IS positive that they didn't see any scary things in that ultrasound. No fluid especially!

Hopefully all will return to normal in the next couple weeks and Cody will never look back!

The nurse today commented on how sweet of a little boy he is which made things for them a little easier. They had to shave his little belly so I'm glad summer is here so he doesn't get cold. Haha. I hope he doesn't fight too much with the antibiotics. I have to give him a pill and two different liquids all 12 hours apart for three weeks. I guess the two weeks of eye drops was a good precursor for this round of medication. Again, thank you everybody and I'll keep you posted about his progress.

A bit of a LOL to lighten the mood.....Rafiki went thru an ultrasound and needle biopsy just before Memorial Day weekend. Her liver counts were also very high as a result of her snubbing the food because the manufacturer changed formula. She had to have her belly shaved for the ultrasound. OMG, what a ridiculously soft little belly she had for the next couple of weeks. I could not get enough of stroking that little velveteen rabbit belly! She has been on an assortment of meds ever since but it looks like she will make a full recovery. Hoping the same for your little boy!

Thank you very much and I'm very glad your baby is doing well. I read all 20 pages of your thread and it sounded like you were having even more trouble at some points getting Rifiki to eat. I originally read it about a week ago and it gave me hope that my situation would have a good result.
I think Cody may be a little embarrassed about his belly. When my wife got home from work, the day it was shaved, I lifted Cody's front paws up so she could see it. Right after I put them down he ran away, turned and gave me an annoyed meow. It was so cute.

I can't imagine anyone poo-pooing research - how else would you learn? You are your kitty's advocate, it is your responsibilty to make sure he is getting the proper testing and treatment. Not to say that vets don't know what they are doing, but there have been several times when I have known more than my vet in a specific situation - sometimes because of my previous experience, but also at times because I've done the research...

Rafiki was mortified about her shaved belly when she first came home. She also reeked of alcohol because they had also done a needle biopsy right before bringing her back to us. It took several days but soon she was back to asking for belly rubs and we fell in love with the velveteen rabbit belly. For better or worse, soon the fur will be back to normal.

When I've had any of mine with shaved bellies I've loved the feel but also the way the spots went to the skin...it looks so cool!
