The memory I have is a case where the kitty was always supervised, except the one time he escaped the house and went to play in the pool unattended...accidents happen and we may not intend for them ever to be unsupervised but it happens. It's great that he knows how to get out by himself in your case!

Great to hear! Can you share for those who have never trained a Savannah in this way, how you taught him to find the stairs?

I actually used a leash technique I read about on one of the forums. Orion loves the feathers on a stick and follows it with no regard for anything else. Water is definitely not one of his fears. Of course his favourite toy is hanging at the top of the stairs also(a mouse on a stick) and there are handrails. We also have a float divider that we used when our human children were small so I kind of fenced in a small area to start with and then enlarged it. I did start with him playing on the first stair which is quite shallow and let him come and go as he pleased to gain confidence. I gave him short rides on the floatee always coming back to the stairs and then enticed him to jump with the feathers. Now all he seems to need is to see his mouse; he has not attempted to get off anywhere else in the pool. The stairs are a darker blue so this contrast might help. His travel carrier is also close to the stairs as he seems to just love it. (His favourite quilt is in it) I would never let him go in without me in the water and we never leave any pool toys in the pool when we are not there. I have not had him swim fully yet and will let him decide when and if. Orion also wears his harness and leash when his is anywhere outside and I am always on the other end of it-the pool is no exception.

Very cool, thanks for sharing! I don't have a pool myself but I hope this will help others who want to teach their cats water safety!

The baby SV's have integrated into the domestic house. The babies and our boys (human children) are so happy. Tonight has been a fun and eventful night. A friend came over tonight and about fell over when she seen all 5 sitting on out kitchen floor playing "string". She thought they were the adults.. Nope, these are the babies. :p It is crazy I know but it seems everyone is happy. :in love: Now, the boys and babies are racked out in their bedroom. :sleepy: Sleepy town at my house. Looks like 6 am wake up call is in my near future..:cautious:

They are comfy. They took my husbands seat. They always take things from my husband. He is such a push over with the SV's. He does not understand the gravity of the situation.
