Daytona is Sick...

Try giving him some stage one chicken or turkey baby food (it should only have meat and broth in it) warmed up and fed to him on a spoon. Most cats will eat it given that way.
Baby food - either Beechnut or Gerber.

He's at the vet. They have him mellowing out on some pheromones and are going to x-ray him to see about a blockage. May give an IV for hydration. This is a good facility and a good vet. I'm hopeful...

Also try to give him some nutrical... You can put it on his paw and he should lick it off. Or you can put a bit on his lips

Ok. We'll see what the vet says.
Most vets will tell you to go ahead with the nutrical.
Warning....I am not sure why they think that cats like a malt flavor but Rafiki did not! She shook her paw and I wound up with nutrical stuck to the wall, floor, me and the cat.

He's still sick. They gave him anti nausea, anti inflammatory and appetite encouragement meds last night. We went home, and he took a tiny nibble of his baby food, then left it alone. Even tried some special vet food. Ate nothing over night. Back at the vet's now. About to do another round of x-rays and ultras. If they find nothing, they are going to do an exploratory surgery.

Unfortunately, I think the best case now is that they find a blockage. Because we're running out of alternative theories. All blood work looks good.

This is hell.

Any other ideas?

Praying for Daytona. and you. I KNOW it's so terribly difficult to see your baby sick. Let's pray the vet finds something. Love 2

Sorry to hear Daytona is ill. If blood work, heart, kidneys, liver are normal, that's very very good news. Temperature is normal? No UTI or URI? If it's a blockage, I hope they are able to confirm it via testing but if not, exploratory surgery is the best option. Keeping fingers crossed that all goes well and he is back to health soon.

Yeah, temperatures are good.

Just talked to them vet. It seems he's just very constipated. There is a super hard piece of feces, that they think has a lot of bone in it, in the back of his colon. They gave him an emina and are waiting to see if he poops it out. If not, they'll give him another. Then maybe massage it out. They're going to keep him for the afternoon, then I'll come back.

So we're in good shape, I guess. Poor little guy -- just constipated.
