Both our 3 month and 15 month old cats have developed a taste for the reduced calorie raw we feed to our older cats. Same raw recipe, just the reduced protein food has about 10-15% of a 50/50 pumpkin/butter mix added in.
The older of the two, Chongo, will eat a lot more of the RP food than he will of his normal raw. In fact he has given up clamoring for kibble in his puzzle feeder. The little guy, Monte, gives me a little more concern about the reduced protein while at the same time probably missing the higher fat content of mother's milk.
I'm sure the butter is what makes it appealing, and they aren't bothered by the small amounts of pumpkin. My concern is that I don't want to remove any of the protein they need while still growing. At the same time not real fond of needing to police dish diving if they don't get it.
Any words of advice are appreciated.
