Different ways to give pills?

I have found that liquid is disasterous with my cats. You have to experiment sometimes. I had one cat that would gulp chicken hearts. I would throw her a few then with the last one, stuff the pill in the right atrium. Chicken hearts are perfect for this- premade pill pockets.

Sometimes with kittens, I find that pilling quickly so they don't taste it works as well. I use Mcdonald's straws, because they have a large diameter, to funnel the pill to the back of the tongue. If you do this quick, they won't care at all and walk away like nothing happened.

Great idea Kelley, could have used that info when trying to give Izzy her meds, my hands/arms are still itch from all the scratches. She also does that really bad drooling/foaming thing when we give her pills or liquid.

LOL- yes, my worst cat to pill is the Siberian. He does this freakish twitch thing. Good thing I have rarely ever had to pill him! I would rather pill all my Savannahs than do him once.
