Thanks for sharing this John....but sorry about the circumstances. Rafiki loves the smell of peppermint. She does not react to any other mint.

With what I know now we have thrown out every minty fresh thing in the house.

Well, she used to run off with the toothbrushes so they, along with the toothpaste and the hubby's deodorant are all kept stashed away.

We actually found another cat specific toy that was loaded with mint. I can't believe people selling this stuff aren't better informed.

Hoping Dooley makes a full recovery!

I had two kitten ingest mouthwash (which of course had peppermint in it) after conveniently knocking it off the counter and working off the lid! The poor babies were so sick I really thought I was going to lose them - I was force feeding them baby food and moistened canned food literally for five weeks until they finally healed and got their appetites back. I won't even mention what was coming out the other end for the majority of that time. Peppermint is nothing to mess around with, and I'm so glad you figured out what was making Dooley sick!!

Thanks Patti!

I'm really hoping he will make a full recovery, only way to know for sure is follow up with some tests when several weeks have passed.

He did take a good jaunt on his wheel last night, but not at full speed like he often does. His eyes are bright again and he's drawing lines in the sand with his brother when they are playing.

Just can't believe this has happened, and I hope that I can have a good run of cat health after this.

Wow! So glad you found out what was bothering Dooley, and thanks for sharing that information. I had 3 of these and just tossed them all. It just says mint but I'm not taking chances. They have a gazillion toys and won't miss a few.

Yes, thanks a lot. My wife just bought some "essential oils" kit. It includes peppermint. I informed her of the risks so this kit is put up in a drawer now and she knows to steer clear of Ms. Venus when she uses it.

Yep, that's one we had as well. Not as bad as its not an extract or oil, but still nothing good could come of it.

Wow. That's scary. All those months of wondering what was wrong. Hopefully the mystery is solved and once those toxins are out of his system he'll be back to good health. Sending healing thoughts to Dooley.
