Ohhhh poor Dooley. I would do the same for him though. Whatever it takes to get him the care and treatment he needs. Praying for a speedy recovery and hopefully surgery won't be needed.

Thanks Della! It really does suck that we need to play games to get a pet into the surgical cue quicker when not all that long ago a vet's referral was good enough. It sounds like just a bit of greed on the pre-surgery care although I need to put aside my disdain for the process and just get our boy Dooley the best care possible.

And for old times sake, a picture of Dooley and Naya together. Oddly painterly looking, just low light and straight from my iphone.

Well, we get to see the surgeon on Thursday which is pretty much on the timeline I had in my head after the abrupt removals of two casts. My regular vet said the break is not perfectly aligned but callusing over. Just the same, she deferred to the specialist so I've got my fingers crossed.

I'll need to post some updated pictures of clubber.

We shall keep the little (?) guy in our prayers. Tell Dooley that he must wait until the healing is over to go messin' around with the cast. You are good people JP, to be there for Dooley. :)

Dooley had his appointment with the surgeon today. He was very well behaved allowing the doctor to carry him off under arm for X-rays. No easy task for an oft squirmy 22lb boy. The X-rays showed even more well formed callusing than two weeks ago and thankfully the doctor said there won't be need for surgery.

He'll continue to be on lock down for the next two weeks and will start getting nightly breaks from the cone of shame. He's extremely happy to have the cast removed although that is already presenting challenges for Trish and I.

Thanks much for the thoughts and prayers. Things didn't turn out perfectly, but well enough that he won't need surgery. Judging from the way he was moving when he got home, these last two weeks might be tougher than the rest of his convalescing.
