Oh my goodness, so good to hear John. It's always so terrible when you don't know exactly what is wrong. I'm glad Dooley is doing better.

Thanks Renee! The important thing is he is getting better and his condition is being managed. The only question is if his liver is functioning better or have we simply improved our management of his condition. Short of a biopsy, I'm not sure if there is another way to find out, and no way we are going there.

Here are the results from Dooley's tests, not sure what it all means but nothing the IM Doctor was concerned about.

Thanks Patti. From my brief bit of research some of the low numbers are consistent with liver disease, while conversely those same numbers are the inverse of kidney disease. The relevance here is that a portion of Dooley’s diet has been Rx kidney diet food. Anyway, something more to dig at.

Those numbers look pretty darn good to me!

John, what color are Dooley's eyes? I seem to recall you mentioning a link between brown/copper eyes and liver issues in cats. Rafiki's eyes were greenish as a kitten but become copper brown before she turned one. Her liver issues were between ages 2 and 4. Her eyes are now much more green.

I see values that are just outside of normal ranges. All seeming to point to an issue with the liver...but not badly off. I see why the specialist wasn't too fussed but where that leaves you now I don't know!

Dooley’s eyes have gone from a deep rust brown color to a much lighter goldfish brown color. They were really beautiful, but I didn’t have a clue that meant there was something wrong.

Liver failure typically causes the liver enzymes to rise, not drop, unless cats are completely different from humans.
