Dooley still challenged

Dooley continues to struggle with episodes of asthma. He has an inhaler that he is reluctant to go near as the last thing he wants when struggling for air is something pressed or held near his face. We continue to work with him when he's not having issues but not having much success.

The last visit to the vet they showed us how to give Dooley a steroid injection. He has reacted well to them, but it's short term relief and a week later we are running through the same issue again. These multiples bouts and attacks seem to also be creating some heart conditions and we are to schedule an appointment with the cardiologist once he is stable for a few weeks, just not seeming like we are getting there.

At this point I'm at a total loss. There oval of the peppermint oil from the Orbee ball i thought was going to provide a path to health, but there is still the underlying lung disease. What gets him over the hump for his asthma issues is creating other problems.

Again, I am at a total loss on providing remedy and unsure of where to turn to next as he is under the best care possible in this part of the country.

I feel for Dooley and you John. I hope you all pull through this soon. I know how frustrating and heartbreaking it can be having a loved companion struggle. Sending well wishes your way.

John, so sorry for what Dooley is going thru. I wonder if this is something that will take time to work out of his system now that you have removed the cause. Or if there is another trigger that you have not found yet.

What do human asthma sufferers do? I am sure that you have already gone the HEPA filter route but is there anything along the lines of a plug in felloway that helps with asthma?

My apologies, I was fading really bad writing this post last night. Jet lagged, a pill to get me to sleep and struggling to type. Hopefully I cleaned it up enough to make sense.

Many times asthma is related to allergies...it really sounds like Dooley is allergic to something. That is how mine started. And the heart issues are likely not heart issues, but reactions to meds...steroids cause all types of side effects.

Have you thought about going to an allergist? Or having your vet run an allergy panel? When Cinny was scratching all the time, we ran an allergy panel and she was allergic to corn...I had to stop using World's Best and she has been fine since.

I'm sorry you are going through all of this, but it may be worth the time and effort to do the allergy testing.

I get the same feeling. The house may be harboring something....
