Two days away from Dooley's surgery. He's doing quite well, just a bit agitated from the Keppra. His weights up, he's nearly always stable with the exception of when he needs to drop a cow pie from the Lactulose and plays as if there isn't anything wrong with him.
Just the same I am still apprehensive about the surgery. I keep replaying in my head all the other contributing factors as to why his liver might not have been functioning properly. Certainly they were a factor while it doesn't remove the issue of the liver shunt, although it could have been a lot longer before any symptoms showed up.
So Tuesday being the day, just wondering if there are any last second questions I should be asking. While there is certainly a path for the surgery to follow, by the nature of this type of surgery it is exploratory as well as they don't know exactly what they will find and need to correct. They've identified blood flow bypassing the liver and I guess the rest his how much they can restrict it without creating to much pressure on the other blood vessels and the liver.
Thanks for the update... We will be keeping him in our Prayers.... It will go ok, and he will be back to normal soon.
I'm probably going to have to keep myself sedated until you give us a thumbs up after the surgery. I can only imagine how you and Trish are feeling right now. Please know that both of you and Dooley are in my thoughts and I'm fervently praying for a excellent outcome for that sweet boy. Hugs to all of you.
I doubt that there is enough juice around to keep you sedated!
