Eggshell calcium

I got tired of doing math and smashing bones every two weeks, and tried a sample of Alnutrin with eggshell calcium. The boys love it, I do too, so I ordered more. Is this an acceptable bone substitute long-term?

I've not used Alnutrin but it seems fine to me. I've used the Mazuri supplement for slab meat and it has calcium added without being crushed bone and my cats' bloodwork has always been good. What seems hardest is making sure that they are fine with the taste of a given supplement, so if your cats eat it then it's good! When I first started adding supplements to meat I trialled a number mine just wouldn't touch...

I have used Alnutrin and really like it! It's a good supplement.

If you eat eggs, you can save the shells. Wash them, let them air dry, bake in the oven @ 250 for 10 minutes (don't let them get scorched) and when cooled, whiz them in a coffee grinder and voilå -- calcium powder.

I've considered that as we get farm fresh organic eggs every week. Ideally, I'd like to use shells from my own chickens one day...
