I went to 3 different pet stores....Pet Valu, Petco, and Petsmart. Of the three, only Pet Valu had a powder probiotic, but it was Kelp (?) and not the brands mentioned above, so I didn't buy it.

But pretty much everything is available online, so I'll go there.

Thanks!

No, I didn't call them, but will definitely do that. I really thought that the pet stores would have carried it. But I'm looking around online and see the brands in these posts available on Amazon for a pretty decent price.

I think online generally you find better prices for most pet items...just if you want the stuff NOW, finding a local source is useful...

Agreed. I'll see if the vet office is open tomorrow...it's 9:30pm here already....where did the day go?? In the meantime, I'll order Probios.

If they aren't open tomorrow, do you know anything about Pet Kelp Pre and Pro biotics for cats? That's the brand Pet Valu sells. That way Mango can have something until my order comes and until I talk to vet office.

I only know what I read on Googling the name you gave there, LOL! It seems to contain the right bacteria...two of the Lactobacillus spp are in Probios I think, and Enterococcus Faecium is what is in Fortiflora. I'm not certain of the value of the kelp in the product but I am sure it is not harmful so likely worth trying...

Ok, it's official, Mango is a knucklehead! My vet's office did not carry a probiotic so this morning I went to Pet Valu and bought the Pet Kelp. Then I headed to the market to buy some tuna and some baby food to mix with the powder. He turned his nose at cheese. He refuses to eat canned food. He gave a disgusted look at the baby food (which he did eat before). And he even walked away from the tuna! What?? And that was all before I attempted to add the probiotic. He's a looney toon.

I'm thinking of raw meat? Is that any good for him to eat? I doubt he will, but it's always worth a try. This diarrhea thing is getting ridiculous. I woke up this morning to a poop bomb in the bathroom. His stool is so runny that it gets on his paws and as a result was all over my bathroom tub, floor, counter, walls, toilet, cabinets.....you name it, poop was on it! To top it all off, after it was cleaned and disinfected, he pooped again, stepped in it again, and messed up the bathroom again...this is getting tiresome.

Did I just rant? Ugh...didn't mean to but this morning was not fun.

Knuckhead.. No.. He is just too smart.. He knows when he is being con'd in to doing something or taking something that he does not like... Maybe some raw chicken will fool him... and personally, I do not blame him for turning down Baby Food.. Ugh...

Awww, I'm sorry that you and Mango are going through such a rough patch. He is probably feeling pretty awful. Cats are very fastidious and he must be stressed by the poop all over his feet and likely not feeling well on top of that.

Can't remember if you tried the boiled chicken and rice yet to try to settle his digestion. It's worth a try. Boil thighs and legs with bone in (dark meat has more taurine than white) and mix the chicken and broth into the cooked rice. Might take 5 days or so to work.

Yes, Mango is just too smart and yes, he does probably feel pretty awful....poor guy :(

I suppose feeling like I'm living in his litter box is getting to me. I'm definitely going to attempt not only the raw chicken, but also the cooked chicken and rice. There IS a way to get that probiotic in his gut and I hope to find the right way that works!
