Well, I'm sorry to say that we had no chance here...here is what I was told:

"The animal was removed from the state today and sent to a facility of their choosing by law enforcement.
My understanding was that the feds are involved in this, probably because the animals origionated from an illegal propogation in NY & sold across state lines?"

This is so, so sad...I did try my best and was hoping the cat could go to a place we contacted that was USDA, but didn't happen...

Yes, I agree..I now have a note on my cattery listing on patrick's site that savannah cats are illegal in the five boroughs, so please don't call me and ask me to break the law...will cut down on me having to constantly lecture and tell people no. Unfortunately there are two or more breeders in NY who will and do sell to NYC...

It is really awful that the kitty is being penalized for the breeder and buyer's wrongs.
Knowing the consequences of their actions for the cat, I just don't understand how thioes people could take the risk.

Sigh, this just breaks my heart but I am thrilled for the outcome.... thanks to all for there efforts.....If California had bans on Savanna's and I really wanted one, well, i would move to a place where it was legal. (yes, it is as simple as that)

That is truly sad, if anyone tried to take our Layla away I might just go to jail. The breeder is a greedy soul and the people that adopted her are selfish. Is there anyway for this cat to be adopted by another family without worrying about the USDA rules? I would volunteer to pay the entire expense of having her shipped to our home.

No Sam...as the post says above, the cat was already sent to an unknown facility by law enforcement, but thank you for offering.
