F2 acting strange...not eating

Yeah, my last 2 Himy's lived to 20 years old and they were fed Friskies dry and Fancy Feast wet.
Bottom line, it does not matter how "good" you think the food is, if the cat won't eat it!

Awareness and education have yet to be shown to be fatal to anyone. Science trumps anecdote. What someone ultimately decides to feed an animal is a personal choice. But we're still responsible for making the best possible choice. And you can't make a responsible choice if you don't ask questions, read, and experiment. How foods were manufactured years ago differs significantly from how they're made today. The news is rife with stories of commercially prepared pet food being contaminated with all sorts of crap, oftentimes causing illness and sometimes causing death. This forum and the FB forums always have questions from people whose cats have diarrhea, skin conditions and other maladies that oft times resolve with a change in diet.

Agree, and sometimes the difference is in how healthy they are through their lives. As far as anecdotal goes...I have an 11 year old DSH that is chronically ill because of the poor choices in diet we made for him.

You can't do better if you don't know better, and often time people overlook the sourcing of foods and how they're made or processed and just read the analysis or ingredients.

Not sure what the ingredients are in the Hills products but I know I can use Fancy Feast when I have to medicate cats and they will eat it with the medicine mixed in, so know that it is very enticing for the majority of cats. I always have a good stock of Fancy Feast on hand, even though I don't feed it on a daily basis.

Canned food is not cheap, no matter what brand. I personally feed my kittens and cats Chicken Soup for the Soul Kitten canned and Authority Chicken and Liver Kitten canned. They are the most reasonably priced that I have found. I used to be able to get Wellness canned for a really good price on Chewy.com but their cost has almost doubled in recent months so don't go that route anymore.

As for being more friendly, my first question would be - how old is he, and is he neutered? If neutered, I would guess that the loving attitude is completely self-serving and he is simply looking for a toasty lap to keep warm in during the icy Idaho winter... don't knock it, I have found it is a great way to develop a closer bond with those more aloof Savannahs...
