Feeding a 5 month old Savannah

If you have a pet boutique type of store locally, often they will carry raw diets for cats and dogs...it can be a good place to try out. Some cats can be very individual and the brand we decide is best they won't touch...so it can be a trial and error process!

I currently feed a locally produced raw diet, "Rawr", but my cats also like RadCat. If I am not using a commercially produced raw diet, I add Mazuri small feline supplement to the meat I buy...

Much appreciated! I do and have seen several brands, just not what people have discussed in this forum. I live in Michigan.

John, do you make your own food or purchase the raw? If you purchase, can I ask what brand? I'm waiting for my F2 right now and am trying to decide what to feed. Thank you.

I make my own as most of the commercially available raw foods have a lot of phosphorous because of the amount of bone. When I am in a pinch, I will buy Nature's Variety for our one boy and for the other guy I have to go to the grocery store for his well refined palette. I keep Mazuri supplement around just for those occasions, the slab meat version, so I can loosely chop some stuff up if I had ran out.

Catinfo.org is a great place to go and study up whether you are going to purchase commercial raw or make your own. Dr Pierson is fantastic and she's been a great help with my cat that has some special needs.

I can get Fresh Pet Vital and Rad Cat. I can also order any of the freeze dried (Stella and Chewy, Fresh is Best, Natural Variety, etc.).
Rad Cat is probably the best pre-made raw out there. Pricey, but very good.

I have tried it with my Maine Coon and he won't touch it (he wouldn't eat home-made either though), but I will try it introducing it slowly when I get my little guy too.

What is your Savannah kitten eating at the breeders?

It looks like another place that is about 15 miles away carries Rad Cat, Primal and Vital Essentials.
