I cant just let them go at it,a few small tuffs of fur got pulled of my bengal the last two cat meetings -which really pis#$% me off.I think its always gonna be like this.Starting to think about installing a door on family room then all cats can live seperate.
Installing a screen door between rooms to introduce cats and also to let them become accustomed to each other is not a bad idea. I would try it. Do not feel guilty about you Bengal. You believed you were doing the right thing. Years ago (I mean years and years ago) I had an F5 Bengal that was seemingly lonely and I decided to get him what I believed to be an appropriate companion, an Abyssinian. For three months the two cats hated each other (despite my initial two week quarantine). They wanted to kill each other. After three months and keeping them separate but continuing to let them smell each other, finally a peace was brokered. After that they were attached. A lot of fur flew in between. It just took a lot of patience and work.

CC installed the Feliway plug-in in the outlet under the aquarium. Triton noticed it right away, and took a good whiff...nothing gets by a Savannah, does it? :big grin: Normally, he's racing around the family room like the devil is chasing him. During playtime last night, he didn't race at all. Guess the stuff must be working. The true test will be when we get him and Cleo together again today. I'm praying it will take the edge off. I don't know how much slower this intro can go...we only have them together for up to half an hour a day as it is.

We have the Feliway plug-ins with our new combo of two domestics and an F2. It's hard to say exactly how much the Feliway does BUT we have a literal love-fest going on at our house. The F2 kitten is 6 months old and by far the largest cat in the house. He has taken over the role of Alpha-Cat and all is well. When we wake up in the morning we have a bed full of kitties and it is glorious. I feel I may just be blessed with VERY sweet cats but I know the Feliway can't hurt so why not go with it. If you are going to use it though, please read the instructions. They only cover a certain amount of square footage so I think you will need AT LEAST two per floor, maybe more depending on the size of the Cool-Cat estate, lol!

All three when alone are sweet and purrfect-but no cat love fest here.I have feliway in the family room/cat nook.SV is carried down there from his room-bengal has free roam of house exepct sv room.Split level estate but feliway is where cats meet.

They say it takes a couple of days for the whole thing to kick in and maybe those pherimones should be a steady thing so how about trying to put them in all areas of the house and wait a week or two to see what happens?

Ive got 3 that dont get along,my aunt has 30 cats (yes 30) that get along.....didnt i read a old post where your cats would fight and youd have to treat absess's wounds, how did you stop that or do i have you mixed up with another member.

I think I can attest that I've never read a post on here where people are letting their cats fight to the point of abcesses- in fact, most spayed/neutered pets don't get into those types of fights.

As for everything else...

I think you are allowing your personal stress to get the better of you.

Has your SV actually drawn blood on the Bengal? Yes or no?

Puffs of hair is JUST that. For you to get pissed about your cat losing puffs of hair- particularly pissed at your Savannah who is a kitten- I want to add- it makes no sense. PARTICULARLY SINCE there is a GOOD chance your Bengal blew that coat due to stress in the first place.

Yes, stress causes a cat to shed coat- this is why you can go to the vet and suddenly, find cat hair in your nose, in your eyes, floating everywhere! It is a involuntary reaction by the cat- and it's not harming them one bit.

What happens is- you take cute kitten out to play with Bengal. Bengal sees cute kitten and says, "How the heck do I deal with this young whippersnapper?" Bengal stresses, blows coat- Savannah comes in to play- it turns into a fight versus play (or even a play fight) and you see puffs of hair all over.

Now- you might say, "Woe is me, I introduced stress into my Bengal's life"- BUT... Stress IS life. Most cats learn to deal with it. A new kitten is stress. A new friend is stress. Moving the furniture around, a trip to the vet, bringing in a human baby, another kitten, a puppy, moving the litterbox- ANY of these things can introduce stress into your Bengal's life. It doesn't mean your kitty needs to live in a bubble.

It was Deborahs post to Marilyn that referenced the abcesses (see cats can get hurt) when they fight.

Um, CC- point out anywhere that someone said cats CAN'T get hurt during fights.

I participated in rescue for over ten years with normal kitty cats and have been breeding/showing for the past seven years. I think I have enough cat experience to say that most household cat fights do not end up with abcesses or blood shed.

Have you talked to Arden about your issues?

No blood i broke it up the monent beagal screamed, and the hair was pulled or scratched out it didnt just magically fall out.We both know if sv's jump and play like servals they surley will stalk and fight like a serval...thats the draw to these cats...the closest you will come to owning a wild cat.
Bullcrap. Hair DOES fall out when cats are stressed. It's not a magical Savannah trick nor is it a magical Bengal trick- STRESSED CATS DROP HAIR and if your kitten was going after your cat and pounced on him, yes, yes, yes, hair can be all over the floor.

You need to talk to your breeder.

Pinning your issues on this breed is not appropriate.

And can you tell me HOW a Serval magically 'stalks' and 'fights'? I would like to know how they stalk and fight (or play) different from other cats. Kittens- from the African lion down to the domestic cat- ALL play the same way. They all stalk the same way... They all pounce the same way- except the Serval tends to pounce HIGHER.

Yes, I love my Savannahs because of their LOOKS- but I love them moreso for their personalities.

BTW- I have a ONE eyed 13 year old former feral (street cat), a 13 year old DSH spayed female, and I had Sphynx when my Savannahs came home. I think I can say- with all honesty- that these cats can interact well wtih all other types of cats- as long as those cats are accepting of a high energy playmate.
