They have double the amount they eat a day now. It also amazes me on how fast they eat it. :)

Ok, Breeders.... The kittens went from top quality canned food to raw without a hitch. Now how well will that go over with prospective buyers?? What do I do with them if the new owner does not want a raw food diet for their new baby?

I would try an educated them on raw and see if they can take the over. If not, have them switch over gradually, hopefully they will continue.

I would keep kittens that are going to new homes on both the high-quality canned and the raw diet. You can try to educate new owners on the benefits of raw, but be prepared that some people will not accept a complete raw diet. Better to have the babies acclimated to something they are used to eating (even if canned) rather than risk a too-quick diet change.

After years of dry food for my cats I found raw. It was about 5years ago and I think its the best switch I made.
17pounds of thighs, 1pound gizzards, 2pounds liver and 4pounds hearts

Here's my recipe I use:

18 pounds of meat (thighs, drumsticks, with bone) I used a pound of gizzards to make up for my meat missing thigh meat.
4 pounds of hearts
2 pounds liver
8 cups water
800 mg B
3200 E
4.5 tsp iodized salt

after defrosting I add 500-750mg taurine to a 2 cups of meat. My enzyme and probotics
also here is the raw food forum you can go through a lot of useful info

One of the things that I do with a litter of kittens is add 1 can of a good quality canned food to their raw mixture so that if new owners are unwilling to want to give a raw diet then the kittens are actually also used to some canned of which I use the Evo 95% but any would do. I do also feed my kittens dry food. Much easier for a new owner to just start giving the total raw and eliminating the dry and canned and also an easy transition for any new owner who wants to give dry and some canned without upsetting kittens diet.
