Food or treat recommendation for VERY picky f2

Ordered some venison this morning.

Ironically, I was making some ambrosia this morning, and Lotto decided to eat the mandarin oranges and coconut. I think my mouth dropped to the floor.

I swear - between that, and the mango juice, I think I have a Tropical Savannah Cat!

I'm not sure he got the 'memo' about liking meat.....

Ha! Probably anything he wanted. Since they are related, I'll share some of Xumi's favorites, under the theory they inherited the same taste buds. Liv-a-littles Salmon, made by Halo. These are freeze dried and I got them at Whole Foods. She also loves the freeze dried shrimp treats from Pure Bites, I think I got those at Petco. I'm going to thaw out the package of Mango juice in my freezer. It was slated for daiquiris, but I want to see if Xumi likes it. Or maybe she'd rather have a daiquiri

I know I'd rather have the daiquiri!

You'll have to let me know about the mango juice....Lotto just can't get enough of it! That and the coconut. What a weird palate! Next thing you know, it will be papaya, or starbucks caramel machiatos!

I have to go to Petco or Petsmart today to get some kitty litter, so I'll check for the freeze dried shrimp and pick some up if they have it.

I think I remember you saying that Xumi is 'motion' oriented. So is Lotto! When he is in one of his Zip-Zap moods, he will go after ANYTHING that moves. Including his own tail. Not only will he chase it, but he will bite the tip of his tail if he even sees it twitch. It's almost funny....he'll be holding it between his paws, and cleaning the middle portion of it....and then all of a sudden, the tip twitches, and his mouth is instantly around it!

Funny wiring, these two! And thanks for the recommendations....

Thanks so much for the suggestions.....

Made progress today. Found out he will eat the freeze dried chicken if I give it to him AFTER a session of 'play'. He will eat about 5-6 little chunks. So that's a great thing! Yea!

As for other food, I'll try putting some in wet food and see if it makes a difference. Even if not, at least he'll eat them, and I can probably get him to chomp on them a few times a day.

That makes sense - you are actually reinforcing his desire to hunt and then "catch" something to eat. I would keep trying that, maybe with different treats for variety.
