After lots of reading and cost comparison we've decided to switch our guy to raw after settling in. It requires some time, but thanks to all you lovely folks here providing tips and recipes we're moving forward with that. I'm hoping to find a local butcher to do the grinding part for me. If not ... looks like I'll be finding a grinder!

Some of my cats where affected I think by salmonelle with EVO. The kibbles stay longer in the digestive track than raw or wet food, so more time to multiply. This is what my vet told me.

When I changed to Oven Bake, everything went back to normal (in my case).
I always use raw also, but not all my cats likes it.

I went back to EVO (Oven bake is very $$$) and problems started again with the same cats, than the second recall....
Back to Oven Bake and back to normal again. I tried Taste of the Wild, but some of my cats had problems with it. Vomiting and digestive problems. I think it's the chicken meal.

I suspect what is causing the issue isn't salmonella, rather the potato starch. You won't be the first nor the last to have cats that don't handle it well.

Patato starch in EVO or Taste of the Wild ? or Both ?

the problem resolved almost instantly with Oven Bake, maybe it's an ingredient and not salmonelle. Maybe you are right Lori. Only my F3, F4 and Slim (oriental). Kittens where ok.
and the poop smell with taste of the wild was terrible...

It's made in Quebec, the grain-free is very expensive. I think it's not extruded, but baked. The meat content is not as hight as EVO, but my cats that eats kibbles likes it and the poop is back to normal.
Some cats are just eating raw for now, they don't like it. But it's ok with me, raw is a lot more cheaper and better.
