It's come up a few times on here what the cost is to make raw for the month. I've been making raw for 5years now and got it down pretty good. I let all the raw run out so I could figure out what I make and pay for a month. Being summer break I figured I got the time LOL....

So, here it is.... I made 18pounds of raw, it cost me $36.98 for all the thighs, hearts, gizzards and liver, that should last me the whole month for the 3 of them. If you divide it out for the 30days it $1.23(if I did that right). It would of been cheaper but qfc did not have the foster farm hearts, so I got them from pcc. I usually buy all foster farms, it's no artificial crap or preservatives.

I bought bulk vitamins( B and E Capsules) about a year ago, total probably cost me $30.00 and I still have enough for a while.

I put Taurine, Probotics and Enzymes in each daily serving for them. I do not add the Taurine until I defrost and serve. I feel it loses its potency in the freezer and Taurine is water soluble so you cant give too much, the daily Recommended ranges for an average cat fall between 35 and 250 mg a day. I order these probotics and enzymes http://www.petenzymes.com/frontproduct/twinpack.html. I ordered back in January when it's empty I will figure the cost for this too, I still have plenty left.

I think raw is worth the money and time I put out. So I hope this helps those that have asked.

Thanks MK...did you mean thighs? Just wondering...would you mind listing the ratio use? Like how many pounds of meat, how much in gizzards, liver and hearts?

lol! yep, fixed that! THIGHS!

17pounds of thighs, 1pound gizzards, 2pounds liver and 4pounds hearts


Here's my recipe I use:

18 pounds of meat (thighs, drumsticks, with bone) I used a pound of gizzards to make up for my meat missing thigh meat.
4 pounds of hearts
2 pounds liver
8 cups water
800 mg B
3200 E
4.5 tsp iodized salt

after defrosting I add 500-750mg taurine to a 2 cups of meat. My enzyme and probotics

I forgot to mention I use salmon oil also, when I defrost. I put about 500mg in.
