Getting ready for Savannah magic!

Hello, I'm new here, and have been reading up on the Savannah breed for the past year. I've been owned by an incredible Bengal & 2 very kitty friendly dogs for the past 11 years, and am seriously considering adding a Savannah into the family. It's very interesting to look at the range of breed 'type' so far on various sites, I think I'm starting to understand what to look for, but it's a little daunting.
I don't necessarily need to find a kitten, although my Bengal boy is extremely sweet/playful and would accept a kitten's presence.
Anyhow I'm up in Canada, just north of Toronto. Nice to meet you and see such a board for the Savannah breed. I'm sure I'll be learning a lot here, as it's a bit different from reading info on breeder's sites. There is no substitute for 'real' life situations. Looking forward to learning before I leap!

Welcome to SVCatchat.com! And yep, that initial step into Savannahdom can be very daunting. Unlike other breeders, where you may have to choose a certain color or sex (obviously)- you have a lot more choices and thoughts when it comes to choosing the SV right for you! Good luck on your search!

Thank you Trish, I'm glad to be here, and will try to take my time, although it's a tempting part of the year with all those litters out there! But I want to make the right choice so this forum might help define things a little...

Welcome! You've come to the right place, and we're glad you're here :) Look, read, ask questions...you will know in your heart when the right kitten or cat comes along....:)

Is that your Bengal on your avatar? He looks like a character and a sweetie!

Hi Pam, you are right, it's definitely a combination of knowledge and then gut instinct when the right one comes along...!
Yes that's my Bengal Topsy in the pic, he's living up to his name, fetching a rubber bottle top, his favourite toy, despite all the other 'proper' cat toys in the house...go figure :)

Lol! Yes, you can spend tons of money on cat toys, and their favorite is the box or package it came in, as well as assorted household flotsam ;)

And I am a firm believer in listening to your gut (and heart) when it comes to finding the right kitten. Or they find YOU!
