Give stubborn kitty his paste meds

Hey,

I really need help, im having an impossible time giving James his meds. I got a paste solution that kittys are supposed to like, my one kitten loves it, my other kitten James who needs it just wont take it. Avoids the food if I put it on food, avoids his favorite treats, tried to put it on some fresh flaked white tuna today and would go near it.

I currently wrap him like a banana and try and open his mouth to squirt it but now hes figured my plan if I go near him with a towel or from the fridge he runs and hides under something. I am quickly running out of tricks :(

What kind of paste are you trying to give him? Try smearing it on the top of his paw, or on his back leg - he won't be able to resist cleaning himself to get rid of it (just keep him away from Jesse until it's all gone).

Oh haha sorry it's, Enisyl-F he needs it twice a day, once in the morning once at night. But I'm lucky to get half the amount he needs in his mouth. Then he spits it out, I get it on his face he wipes it off and doesn't clean it up. His sister will come lick it off him later on for him. He doesn't like tuna or wet food. He won't eat it on, in or around his food or treats. I basically have to keep force feeding it to him but he wiggles and does anything not to eat it.

Does he like boiled or grilled chicken? I used to split Shango's heart-worm pill in 4 smaller pieces and hid them in pieces of my chicken and feed to him. Unfortunately, that only worked a couple times. Now the only way I can get him to eat the pills that cats are supposed to like (famous words for pet medicine lol) is to crush into a powder and mix into his raw food in the mornings when he's hungriest. I'm not sure if he just can't taste it as well since it's a powder mixed throughout his food or if he's hungry enough he just doesn't care. Being a liquid/paste, I'm not sure how you can really hide in food very well if he doesn't like wet. Only thing I can think of is to confine him to a small room/bathroom and squirt the stuff in his mouth, then reward him with whatever his favorite treat is. Hopefully he won't have to take the stuff for much longer or you could possibly see if the vet has a pill version to try.

This stuff is available on line and not a prescription. So you can try ordering it in powder form or in chewy treat form and see if that helps. Actually powder form would probably work better -- it can be mixed into food. I give this to my cats and tasted the powder. It tasted sweet to me.
