Why does Canada suck for pet stuff haha, shipping from the states takes weeks sometimes and he's sick now!

They are worried he has the Flu, he's been throwing up and diarrhea every day. But he's drinking water and eating food still.

I noticed its an ingredient in both the dry food hes been offered. I wonder if maybe I should be taking him back to the vet. Seems like maybe hes getting a lot of this L-Lysine and its not helping!

Found it in:

Any recommendations on either of those?

The lady didnt want to test him, thought she would give him 2 weeks with L-Lysine before doing a full work up. He seems to be eating and drinking fine, just the two symptoms.

Jacob, throwing up EVERY DAY and having diarrhea is deadly serious. Get a different vet, seriously, get a different vet. Did you do any research on cat flu? His symptoms are more compelling than cat flu.

I did do research which is why he went to the vet for an emergency appointment the next morning. But after that I wanted to trust in a professional opinion over my own. I will call them back in a few mins and see about bringing him back in tomorrow and get some tests done.

I get that, but would you not question your own doctor if you threw up everyday -- bile acids eating away at your teeth and esophagus, diarrhea causing your bum to burn, stomach in constant discomfort -- I wouldn't trust anyone who said it's ok to let that go on for 2 weeks. Lysine allegedly boosts immunity and was thought to help control herpes outbreaks in cats. Recent research has shown it has no affect on herpes in cats so I can't understand why your vet would recommend it for cat flu.

Well you have officially scared me, I called the vet but they were busy so I sent an email explaining hes not getting any better, I will see what they send me back or I will call them in an hour. I also sent another email to a different vet by my house explaining her diagnosis and asking them if he needs to be seen asap and if so if they had any openings.

BTW, you can also get lysine for humans. Same thing in a powder or pill (you can crumble) form. I agree with WW.....you do not let a kitten throw up and have diarrhea for days. If nothing else, dehydration can be deadly.

Boy, I agree with the above - I have never heard of lysine being recommended for kitty flu. And vomiting and diarrhea can quickly lead to dehydration which in a kitten can rapidly become fatal.
