Give stubborn kitty his paste meds

Has anyone had a cat with kidney issues, he said its more management then treatment if that ends up being the case. Multivitamins and a change of diet. But has anyone gone through it or is going through it?

I hope kidney disease is not present. I only have experience with it in elderly cats. Here's some info from one of our most prestigious veterinary schools that you can compare/contrast with whatever your vet advises.

Have you talked to your breeder about this? Does your contract provide for assistance for you?

Same here....I have had experience with kidney disease in a 13 year old cat and older; never with a kitten. Sorry I cannot be of help.

Regardless of what the contract stipulates, I would reach out to the breeder and let them know what is going on.

Yeah I've been telling her about the tests and things. She hasn't said to much but I'm sure she appreciates knowing her kittens are being well taken care of

Sorry to hear that the SDMA is elevated, but glad that everything else turned out well. It sounds like the SDMA test has a high sensitivity and specificity but the specificity was 91% (91% of cats that tested positive were truly positive, 9% were actually negative), as opposed to 100% sensitivity (all cats that tested negative were actually negative). This means that you have a slight chance that James' positive test was a false positive and everything is actually normal on him - fingers crossed!

I'm really hoping maybe because he's sick or because of the meds maybe it came back a bit high but will come down after wards. He's so cute, he doesn't deserve kidney issues

I re-read the contract and it says in the event of a significant medical issue I can return him and get a equal value kitten when ones available. I am not even considering it though, I'm fully in love with him as my pet! He's so amazing! First thing I see every morning when I wake up haha, his little face standing over me and then a big MEOW as he's hungry haha

Lysine helps with viral infections and boosts the immune system. I have said this before, I take it myself daily and it temndously helps during the cold season
I'd get the human capsules and sprinkle the recommended doses on his food. you can get it at any natural food store ( I know Canada has those) lol
Regardless of what the vet says the real issue is, I would continue lysine in his diet. to build up immune strength. I would also research apply cider vinegar and apply that to his diet. I also consume ACV as well as kitties. I have seen powerful things in natural medicine in people and cats.
Best thing is to get medicinal healing in the system before you get sick. Keep that in mind

I've been paying close attention to his water intake.

I have always given my sick kitties unflavored pedialyte ... they loved it, wonder if it is because they need the electrolytes... I am not a fan of the taste
