Hi Clem, I'm so glad to see you here, and hearing that someone is making an effort to legalize Savannahs in Australia!! I hope that we can provide you with whatever information you need to achieve this goal. Here is a link to a fairly exhaustive Savannah FAQ: http://www.savannahbreedsection.org/faq.php

I don't believe that one must be a stay-at-home person in order to properly care for a Savannah. I breed Savannahs and have several in my home, but also work 50-60 hours a week (to support my Savannah addiction :) You do however need to 'Savannah-proof' your home, in the same way one would for any active breed. It is also not true that F1s-F3s are aggressive, here is a pic of my son and F1 Savannah:

I've heard that Savannah don't cope to well with loneliness & they can become fairly destructive but like you said that would be with any active breed of cat, I totally agree with you on the aggressive issue Savannahs are very gentle cats & I wouldn't hesitate spending some time with a F1 to F3 cat Savannahs are a passion of mine & I hope I can get the chance to meet some when I travel to the US next year.

Hmmm, I don't know that they get lonely as much as they get bored, so go looking for entertainment which may not be appreciated by their owner. Of course this can happen whether you're home or not... one of the most frequent times someone decides to be naughty is when I'm sitting in front of my computer in the same room with them!

Thanks Clem, my website is very outdated - Taboo is living in the lap of luxury as a spoiled pet and Femi is also retired, but still here with me :)

Are they still very active cats & when breeding do you help your queens with the birth or do you let them do it themselves.

Yes they are both still quite active.

Each delivery is different - some queens like assistance, others want to be left alone, I try to be there for the births but most of the time the moms do just fine on their own.

It's Interesting how some cats like help & others don't how long are kittens normally on their mother's milk & what week do you allow them to go to new homes?, I hope you don't mind me asking these question but I'm very Interested about the breeding process of Savannah that's all.
