Hairball? Some kind of obstruction? Allergy? What's wrong Vakai?

Also consider a good HEPA air filter, Whirlpool make some that are rated really good for allergies, and are not as expensive as some of the other ones of equal quality.

Mini-Update:

For the past few days on Hairball meds and some other kind of medicine, I hadn't seen or heard Vakai make the same cough. But last night, I woke up with him on me, doing the same cough. And now Riyl's started doing the same thing.

X_X They're still eating and playing and everything. The vet said the next step would be an xray to see what's going on in there. Maybe the meds need a bit longer to work? I'll give it a few more days before scheduling another appointment.

If they are both coughing you might want to consider running an Upper Respiratory Disease panel just to make sure they don't have an infection...

Thanks for the tip, I'll bring it up when I go back to the vet.

I wouldn't describe it as coughing though. I mean it is, when it's happening, but It happens only rarely, and it comes on suddenly and then they're fine directly after. And their breathing sounds normal the rest of the time, not wheezy or rattly or anything x_x.

I was just thinking that, Patti, after reading that the other kitty is now coughing... sounds a bit like a Mycoplasma infection which will be detected by the panel. It can give that dry coughing thing...
