are you using the same litter as the breeder? I would make sure you dont have a lid on the litter box. I use a large sterlite clear plastic storage box(so they can see through it. I would also get an additive called cat attract and you can sprinkle it in the litter(pet-smart or petco carries it), it really works well. I'm not sure how long you have had the kitten, but it could be a separation anxiety and just might take him some time.

I agree with what Marye Kae has said and will make one more suggestion since some kitties don't like to use the same litter box to poop and pee into - get him two litter boxes and see if that makes any difference.

I have had him for approx a month now, up until now he has been fine with the litter and box I have been using. My conclusion is that he peed the first time because the litter box was not accessible, second time is because of the scent/odor, and the most recent time he pooped because we put him in the spare room (so maybe he was upset with us)? Also, we have a roommate with a cat as well so we have been confining him to our room. She is moving out tomorrow... I am wondering if the spare room incident was because of the other cat's scent in the spare room. Let me know if anyone has anymore suggestions, advice, etc.

It could of been the other cats scent. I do think putting up another litter box like Patti suggest is a great idea. Seeing you mentioned it was not available at one time, having two would help!
