Heartbroken and Incredibly Angry

It is true what is being expressed here about the other folks being attached to Ice. I didn't ask for them to try again without a knot in my stomache for the other folks that have him. I know how they will feel because it is how I feel having this mixup happen. I am definitely conflicted about it because of that.

Continuing to post in this thread is helpful in that it is somewhat cathartic.

Having been left at the alter for a couple kittens in my most recent quest I understand how you feel. What I don't have experience with is being in possession of a kitten that I would need to send back. My gut tells me the clock wouldn't need to tick very many times for that to be much harder for me to deal with.

I definitely feel for you and just remember that 6 months down the road whatever transpires won't matter much. You'll have two wonderful kittens you have welcomed into your home and heart and the wrapper won't be something you'll give much if any thought to.

I've been thinking about you, Tort, and your situation... It makes me think maybe this is the difference between a business that views their kittens as business transactions and breeders who view their kittens a bit differently. I mean- to a business, if you ordered a t-shirt and they were out of one color, they might think substituting with another would be appropriate and cause no true uproar. You STILL get a nice shirt, after all!

I'm actually surprised it's not covered in your contract- if Kitten A is not available, then they could substitute a different kitten. NOT that you'd find that acceptable, but I swear I've seen some dog contracts worded thusly (was it dogs? Maybe other critters? I don't know- can't remember, but I know I've seen it in the critter world from time to time).

I don't know Trish. I would never substitute a different tee for one that someone wanted without asking first. That is just good business in my opinion.
Maybe so... (Not maybe you wouldn't- but maybe it's not good business sense... But there are companies that do substitute items if the one you ordered specifically is not in stock. I know I'm crazy, but not that crazy!).

I haven't named the kitten yet and don't know what his name was at A1 so I'm delaying that as long as I can until things are finally resolved. It lessens the attachment temporarily. Regardless, these cats deserve and are receiving the utmost of care and loving attention. It would be unfair to them not to treat them that way.

Unfortunately I am picky about appearance in this instance. I normally get my pets from rescue shelters, but this time I decided to spend money and go for the Serval looks and traits in the Savannah breed. Ice hit almost all the marks for me and sadly the other little guy only has the black nose going for him and looks very non-Savannah/Serval. Not his fault, and he's a loving little kitten. I know my personal foibles when it comes to buying for appearance. If I spend the money to have a certain look, I am dead set that it is what I expect to receive.

Of course personality is very important in animals and these two have it in abundance which is great. Abby, soon to be renamed Yuki has an amazing appearance, and her personality is so overwhelming that her smaller than an average housecat size is no drawback. In fact if Yuki's personality gets any bigger I'll be completely bald very soon.

Agreed. Had I been notified up front and given a chance to work something out instead of being surprised at the airport, things would undoubtedly be a lot different at this moment. Would I have been initially upset, yes. Would it have been easier for me to dive into working on an immediate solution, definitely.
