Hello All!

Well,

First off hello and thank you for accepting me to your group!

My name is Alex, and my wife and I have adopted a savannah male from the spcaLA in Long Beach two weeks ago. His name is Modi, after the son of the Norse god, Thor. He is estimated to be aprx 4 years of age. He was forfeited to the local animal shelter because his former owners were given him from their parents and could not care for him.

This is not my first exotic domestic (if that correct in calling him?), as i've also owned in my time 4 bengals at different times in my life. But, with that being said, he is a handful already.

Welcome, Alex...what generation is this boy? And no, he is not an exotic anything :) Servals are exotic - savannahs are considered domestic for all intensive purposes...he is adorable!

Thank you! we are actually unsure of his generation since he was a rescue. There were no papers with him, and the shelter had him down as a tabby... But we knew better ;)

Welcome Alex and Modi who is a very handsome cat. How well is he adjusting to his new home?

Well we were told he was unfriendly and shy.... as soon as he got home he was a giant snuggle bug and purrbaby.. he gave me his tummy after 2 days. Hes obsessive over my wife and will scream at her to sit down so he can curl up on her lap. lol.

Just recently though he is being extremely vocal, and has 30 min periods where he is just talking nonstop...even in the middle of the night as we sleep. We are trying to figure this behavior out.

If he was not surrendered as a Savannah are you sure he is? To me he looks very like what a Cheetoh looks like, that is a hybrid cross between Bengal and Ocicat. He seems to have some ocicat features to his face and he's glittered like a Bengal... and they seem to have allowed chocolate spotted tabbies like he is also... just a thought! He's a handsome dude and very lucky to have a great new home in any case!

He was noted on the surrender card as savannah, but the shelter marked him as tabby on his crate.

Welcome Alex, your Modi looks like an adorable kitty! Sometimes Savannahs (and other cat breeds) can be very vocal. If this does not turn out to be a passing fad you might want to consider desensitization or diversional therapy
