Hello everyone, My name is Christine and I adopted a Savannah cat from my local Humane Society. His name is Chupa. He was 7 years old and very sick and abused. Who ever had him before had him all paw declawed and just I guess after getting tired of him threw him out of the car at the shelter. I went in looking for a Kitten but this cat looked so bad and scared and just in misery. I took pity on him because his age made him a big candidate for being put to sleep and he would not let any one or any thing near him. So I thought of it as a project to try and save him. He was put as a bengal cross but after many trips to the vet I was told he was more savannah like to them. After Showing pics to a few savannah Rescue groups they said he was a Savannah. So my journey began. This cat lived in my tub and Sink for over a month. he did not want to come out or be social. I will give it to him though He never bit us when being forced to go to the vet. I year and Patience makes a world of difference! He was worth it! The Best experience and cat I Have every owned. So Loving, Personable, Gentle and Kind and full of spirit. He loves us all now even the great dane and Loved going on vacation to our beach house. How someone could have let him go and treated him so awful I just don't know. I will say When we got him he had horrid Diarhea and maybe thats why they threw him away, But after many vet visits and Diet changes he is 100 percent. I am so glad to have finally found a place to talk with other savannah Cat owners. Once I Figure out how to post pics I will post his before and after pics. I year def makes a dif in even a pets life =)

Welcome Christine and Chupa!

I love that Chupa found you, he's a lucky cat!

Just curious, what "savannah Rescue groups" did you talk to? My curiosity stems from running Savannah Rescue and we don't really know of other active Savannah-specific rescue groups... so would love to learn more!

This Must be you! I found you guys on Face book, During When I Adopted him I Emailed Pics to this rescue and then either it was you or someone who helps run the site emailed the pics to other Savannah folks to try to say weather he was a Savannah. At the Time of his rescue he had very bed Diarhea and my Vet wanted to know more about what breed he was do to it being his diet. Once figuring out together we got him straight on the type of foods and meds that would be best for him. My Neighbor works at our local Zoo and takes care of the Jaguires and Ocelots and He also was great help on what would be best to feed until his system settled down and got back to normal. THis poor cat was in major digestive stress when I Got him And Was basically Pooping Blood due to extream inflamation to his digestive track. Lets just say Meow mix does not work LOL! So I guess It Was you guys that helped us!
