I am a long ways from being an expert, You said they acted good together, but at the same time you state that: "she is the established one ( daddy's girl)". My only concern would be how will she act when she is with you playing with the newbie and then when they are alone how will she treat him??? Not willing to show adversities toward the newbie in front of you knowing she will get punished or scolded, how will she act when you are not around?

Again, I am not an expert or a Savannah. I was very scared how Jake was going to act to Elsa being so much more playful and not being where I could calm things down if needed... A small experiment would be to go like you are really leaving, but just for 5 or 10 minutes, and then extended it little by little to see how they really get a long together and hopefully not much fur will fly (so to speak)...

Just a Novice Opinion, but I have sometimes played it too safe, but when it comes to my babies, that is the only way I know!

For what it is worth, here is my two_cents.jpg worth.

Hey Thanks John. I will take all the ideas I can get. Those are good points that MUST be considered. And maybe you are like that guy on TV. Your 2 cents is worth $37.50. :)

That is what I did with Jake and Elsa.. I would leave them alone and run to the store for 10 to 15 minutes.. Glad I never had a problem, and they have always been best friends... I hope your 2 turn out the same way, but if the older one develops jealousy about you sharing so much attention to the newbie, her first opportunity when she knows she is free and clear could be what she is waiting for!

I've never had a cat get injured badly when trying to establish the chain of hierarchy. Some fur may fly, but not much more than that. I think at some point in time you just need to let them work it out between the two of them. You can keep putting Kilifi in the crate in the room several times a day in the interim, but if there's no posturing during those moments, I think the worst is over.

Inwardly I do not feel Kilifi is vindictive. She has never tried to "get even" with anything or anyone. She is quite the lover kitty. Likes to play, but loves to cuddle and be sweet. I do not think she will be a problem. BUT, I will NOT ignore that very real possibility. Actually the one I've had the longest is the youngest kitty. Kilifi (my longest resident) is 14 months old and Azidi is 3 yrs old. Both are from the same cattery, Patti's, so they were exposed to the same great love and care. It's just that Azidi had a bit of a rough early kittenhood, being a rescue kitty.

It might not help.. But if you can leave for just a 15 minute drive leaving them alone... My relieve worries later of what could happen...

Yesterday when I put the crate in the room and put Kilifi in it, there were no foofy tails or hisses and spits. Just Azidi growling softly and being cautious. kilifi just watched Azidi and was quite docile.

I agree with you Cary - Kilifi was always one of the younger kittens here and never the aggressor. Azidi has always preferred to be in small, secure spaces even though she had been given the opportunity to expand her world before she came to you. I think they will be fine together, once they work out that the other is safe, and a good companion.
