Azidi was out for a bit today. She was not as curious as yesterday, but she looked around.
THEN, I took Kilifi in to Azidi's room. UNENCUMBERED. I was in there too, with only a spray bottle of water ...Just in case. But I did not need it. Kilifi was very good. While Azidi hid under the bed, Kilifi looked at her, got to within 3 feet of her and then looked over the room. Played on the bed for a while, Made sure Azidi had all the necessary needs met, and just relaxed. Azidi was quiet but obviously tense. But NOTHING was said by either of them. I was so proud of them, and told them so.
All in all they were together for about 45 min.

Wow, that's great!!! I think I've told you before that Azidi was dominated by the other cats when she was here, so not surprising that she may expect the same treatment from Kilifi (I never witnessed any fighting but she always seemed to be in hiding). However, if they keep this up I'm sure she will learn it is okay to relax around Kili, just like she has learned that she can trust, and be relaxed around you.

Yes. And I am very OK with that. As long as my wonderful Fellow Savannah slaves realize it is going to be a while before it is completely relaxed around here. I will just keep on keepin' on with this, since it seems to be working. :)

Oh...And Kilifi is showing some signs of jealousy. She has to be beside me at all times. If not she cries. She grooms me, chases me and looks at me with a look that melts my heart. So that kinda makes me want to be cautious when they are together.

Well tonite. was a "no progress" night. No setbacks...but no progress. 40 min of Kilifi in with Azidi and for the most part, both were good girls. No disagreements. A short hissing spat when Kilifi surprised Azidi...1 foot away... But no contact.

No Disagreements... Sounds like a little progress... Headed in the right direction.

I'm not sure how you have been doing this, but perhaps tomorrow you should go in there with Kilifi off the leash and the door left open, then leave with the door still left open and see what happens... go out into the living room and let the girls do whatever they want... just keep the spray bottle handy in case...

That is how I have been doing it EXCEPT I have not left the room. But, as much as it worries me, I will leave the room tonight. Let the fur fall where it may. Sigh...

I agree. Keep it slow. No apparent progress still means they're getting used to each other. They'll show you the progress they've made when they're ready. They are Savannahs, after all.

I let Kilifi in when I got home. And left the room. All was quiet. Kiki looking at Zidi..Zidi looking at Kiki from 4 or 5 feet away. I gave them each some chicken treats. Kilifi jumped up on the bed for hers so I gave them to her there. Azidi got hers under the bed. All was well until Azidi finished her treats and walked out from under the bed. Kilifi saw this and jumped at Azidi...Azidi freaked and ran...the chase was on. Screams and hisses and screams and hisses. and I freaked and ran in with the water bottle yelling at Kilifi. When I got in there, Azidi was in the closet behind a big box ..very defensible and Kilifi was sitting still blocking the escape route. Azidi was still growling although quietly. I decided that I was not going to let this stand off go on. I removed Kilifi, closed the door and talked to Azidi. She would not come out. But when I left the room, she came out and the kitty cam showed her to be none the worse for wear. I will let her calm down then go in and check her condition.
