Cary, maybe try bringing her out of the room in a large crate and keeping her in the crate in the living room. This gives her the opportunity to get used to sights and sounds again from the safety of the crate. You'll likely have to do this for quite a while. It seems unbalanced to work on modifying the behavior of just one cat a time because that leaves the other cat to become more entrenched in the behaviors you are trying to change. I know it's like trying to nail jello to the wall but I think it's something you have to try. When I use an animal communicator, we work with all the cats at the same time -- different techniques with each one, but all of them are simultaneously in synch with whatever we're trying to achieve.

Was thinking about that Deb. I suppose Ms. Azidi will just have to get upset a bit with me. I hope I don't mess up the trust I have engendered.
Cary you worry too much about endangering the trust between you and it's holding back progress. You have to remember that animals don't see the world and relationships the same way humans do. They move past issues fast because they have to in order to survive in the wild and this is a genetically programmed behavior that does not disappear because an animal lives in a house.

Hi Kristin, where did you take your course? I am reading this thread close to tears because I feel that I know that my cats are trying to communicate with me and I am shutting them out - i don't know why. I was told by a medium some years ago that in a past life I was an animal healer. He knew nothing about me at all but also told me some things no one else could have known. I knew that it felt right and know that I have had very strong bonds with every animal I have ever owned - cats, dogs and horses. I would love to explore this and become more open to what my animals are trying to say. Do you have any suggestions for me or can you teach others?I wasn't born able to communicate with animals, I took a course to learn. I'm sure you are more intuitive than you think

I don't teach animal communication (I still have a lot to learn) but I can give you some tips and at the very least help you with the messages you are trying to receive from your cats. I took my course online through a woman named Georgina Cyr. There are lots of people who offer online courses as well

I have to agree with Deborah (but I think you know that already). It is going to have to be up to you to break the barriers. You don't have to throw Azidi out into the living room but leaving the door open, especially if you have Kilifi in another room, is a start. If the door is shut 23 hours a day, Azidi is not going to understand that you want her to come out, or that it is safe to do so. I would put Kilifi in your room and bring Azidi out into the living room in a carrier, then leave the carrier door open (and the door to her room open). That will give her the option to come out or not. I would try doing that for at least an hour every day (or until she runs back into her room) and see if she starts getting more comfortable with it.
Another option is to put Kilifi in Azidi's room after you have brought Azidi out into the living room, that way they are both sharing scents in each others' territory.

I have the kennel in Zidi's room now so she can become familiar with it. I will probably try tomorrow if she is ok with the carrier. She has been in and out of it. Even while I was sitting next to her on the floor. I could have shut the door on her, but I did not want to "zap" her just as soon as she went in. Want her to know I am not gonna cage her.
