so if my guy is an F4A, mom an F3 SV and dad a Bengal.....he will not be fertile? if this is the case do I need to nueter him..?
Whether or not a male cat is fertile, they don't know! They still make the male hormones that make them spray and tell all the girls where they are, and still want to go find those girls. So if you are not keeping a cat as breeder then do neuter them whatever the generation!

thank you for the kind words...he is from bambusa forest.....http://bambusaforest.homestead.com/
I love your breeder's website, she has some very beautiful cats! Going back to your first posts, you said your girl was confirmed pregnant by palpation and that she would be due in 5-6 weeks. If she is pregnant you should be able to notice that her nipples are larger and becoming pink. I would personally never be able to confirm pregnancy by palpation at only 3-4 weeks pregnant but the nipples are a pretty sure fire test.

I notice that your boy's breeder provides pedigrees for many of her cats but I don't see one for his Savannah mom. I would request that pedigree so that you have a better idea of what is in his background. As has been mentioned, there have been a few lines that produce fertile F4s: Bundas, Amazing Grace, Kiwanga, and ThomKatz. If you see any of these in your pedigree you are far more likely to have a fertile F4 male.

Hello I will do the dna test BUT Just saying that neither her nor do I think that this savannah is sired by the local tom. IT was merely a guess I threw out there as you said my f4c couldn't be fertile. You asked if he was an A generation which he would be if one parent was not a savannah. I reallly can't say that he is even fertile until a litter with a silver kitten is produced. But regardless the dan test is a good Idea I will do it with uc davis.

How is he even properly registered then if the breeder you got him from cannot confirm or be sure who the sire is?

If the cat he has the litter with is BST you could easily get all BST (unless he is homozygous for silver).

You say you breed Bengals too though, could one of those Bengals gotten near the queen also? I know Lori has had a stud breed through wire mesh before!

LOL yes we did! Dunia and hussy girl Tekira right through the side of a dog crate. I was always a doubter that this could happen until I witnessed it first hand.

Wondering about the lines behind this boy... if he is fertile. The lines that I am very familiar with having fertility at the F4 level are the Bundas line and the boys from Joykatz Amazing Grace too. Are either in your boy's pedigree then? Oh and there is a line from Sweden TicWildside that had a fertile F4 too...

As an aside, our F3A girl Amber is from the same F2 that Amazing Grace is from. I have the most stunning F4 B kitten here from Amber but Kristin has first dibs. They are a fertility experiment...
