Hello from Florida!

Tora

Savannah Child
I'm looking at either a F2 or a F3 because we are a very active family and our cats are all fairly big. My two Maine Coons are only 1/4 Maine coon for the older one and 1/2 for the younger and they are just as big as a purebred, if not bigger. Cobain is already 18 inches at the shoulder and he is just 7 months old so we can tell he is going to be big. If his ears were just a bit bigger he would look like a siamese pointed Savannah! Even Gus is a good 20 pounds of muscle now.

A tragedy just befell our house yesterday when Cobain managed to get in the reptile room and kill all but one of my anoles.

I found a pretty girl on Craigslist, I know not the safest place to look, she's a darker F2 and she's fully declawed which I think is stupid, just a tendonectomy on the front feet should be fine, UTD on shots and she's spayed. She's free, but I'm not quite sure if it's a scam yet or not, might be meeting them this weekend in a public place. I hope it's not because I would love to bring her into our home.

I am so sorry for your loss. Unfortunate that one one is preditor and one is prey.

PLEASE be cautious re Craigslist. You do not have the guarantee a good breeder will give you. Hoping for the best for you. :)

So sorry for your little lizards :(

I would strongly recommend getting a savannah from a breeder.

Any Savannah on CL that is free is probably a scam or there other issues involved... There is no need to declaw any cat... If you provide lots of cat scratchers and trim claws, that sod be an that is necessary

No surprise at all about the reptiles but so sorry that happened. If you want to post the link to the Craigslist ad we would be happy to look at it and weigh in on whether it's bona fide or bogus.

Only one of our current cats is declawed but it happened before we got him. He was a $2500 champion blood line Siamese and the woman wanted to say she had a $2500 cat, she had him neutered, declawed in the front, and she locked him in a closet until someone rescued him from her house after she moved and left him. You can see that his toes were amputated and his little pinky toes stick up so we call them his fancy toes. The rest of the cats wear the claw caps on their back nails and their front nails are constantly trimmed.

That is definitely a Savannah. The key word in the ad is 'unsocialized' - that probably means she is unhandlable. It is also concerning that it says there should not be other cats in the house, sounds like she gets aggressive with other animals. All in all, if you want to take on the challenge you can give it a try, but you will have to accept the fact that she may always act like a feral cat and might have to be permanently separated from all of your other animals.

However, before you commit to anything you need to make sure that taking her is not a breach of the owner's contract, as most breeders include a clause that says if the owner can't keep the cat it is to be returned to the breeder... although at $1300 for an F2 that might not be the case here, I don't know anyone who sells F2s for that little, unless it was sold with the known behavior problems.

Yeah, the price that they got her for surprised me. she sounds like she had a life kinda like Gus, my older siamese, and I know they are fairly different fundamentally, but I think it shouldn't be too much of a problem with the other cats. They might have bought her off of someone who bought her from a breeder but didn't realize how much care is needed for them.

Aw that poor girl :( Where I live declawing is illegal. It's so cruel..
If you have the time, energy, and patience.. I'd love to hear you gave that poor sweetie a loving home. But as your first savannah, and an F2, that might be a bit much to handle..
